Reverse Challenges at hack.lu
This year we have two reverse challenges at hack.lu. One is done by J-B Bedrune and the other one is kindly offered by Georg Wicherski.
The Reverse Challenge is over and results and winners will be published soon.
Reverse Challenge 1
The goal of the challenge is to download the executable and reverse it and do a write up of the things you found and send it to info (at) hack (dot) lu with the subject Reverse Challenge 1. The best 3 submissions will win interesting prizes.
Reverse Challenge 2
There is a second challenge, the winner will be announced on Friday. The first submission with a thorough documentation of the reverse engineering process wins. The first price is sponsored by Kaspersky Labs. There are two more prices to win.
You can get the challenge binary from http://2009.hack.lu/archive/2009/ReverseChallenge/crackme-enc.exe, once the conference has started. The binary will be a 32bit PE file, known to run on Windows XP SP2. To protect against possibly malicious behavior, it should only be run inside a virtual machine!
Prices
The prices (sponsored by Kaspersky Labs) are as follows:
- 1st price: 8 GB USB stick, 1l russian premium vodka
- 2nd price: 500 GB USB HDD
- 3rd price: 8 GB USB stick
Also, the first five submissions get a one year Kaspersky Internet Security license for free.
Main Question
- Which command line parameters/arguments needs to be pass to the crackme-enc.exe to return an exit value of 0?
Submissions should also be sent to info (at) hack (dot) lu. with the subject Reverse Challenge 2.
Deadline is Friday 30th October at 2PM
